Synopsis:
A
documentary about Eltanbura musical troupe. In 1989, Zakaria ibrahim founded
the tanbura musical troupe trying to revive the folkloric music of semsemia
of Port-Said, using at the same time an instrument called “Tanbura”
which was related to “elzar”
(egyptian folkloric ceremony that used to be practiced to kick out demons
and ghosts)... to make this troupe come true, he gathered some of the
old singers and musicians of Port-Said who used to play their music in
gatherings in the streets called “Dama”
The film tries to enter the world of this music which is reflects a strong
relation with the history of Port-said full of important events like the
war in 1956, the emigration of the citizens of the city after the defeat
of 1967
